The crossing of the Alps

On this beautiful journey starting from the Bavarian capital over the Resia Pass to Lake Garda, you will enjoy crossing the Alps. Wonderful views accompany you on the way along Lake Starnberg. The historical Lüftlmalerei on the house facades in Garmisch-Partenkirchen and Mittenwald will inspire you. You will be amazed by the views of the Zugspitze, Karwendel and Ortler. And a smile on your face will be conjured up by the superbly developed cycle path in South Tyrol and, to crown it all, the descent to Lake Garda. So diverse can be a crossing of the Alps.

The itinerary
at a glance

For your 8-day tour from Munich to Riva/Torbole

The capital of Bavaria awaits its visitors with numerous sights (English Garden, City Hall, Hofbräuhaus,…).

From Munich through Forstenrieder Park to Lake Starnberg. From Starnberg along the cycle path directly on the lakeshore to Seeshaupt. On beautiful paths through quaint Bavarian villages past the Easter Lakes and the Riegsee to Murnau am Staffelsee.

Through the nature reserve Murnauer following the river Loisach to Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Continue along the beautifully landscaped bike path to the Isar River. Through the sunny high valley with magnificent panoramas, you cycle to Mittenwald. Here you should definitely take a break and stroll through the town decorated with Lüftlmalerei. Spectacularly, you then continue through to Leutaschtal to Austria. Along the Leutascher Bach, you will cycle through the beautiful valley to your overnight stay.

Today it's over to the Inn Valley. You leave Leutasch on a gently rolling country road before an eight-kilometer descent to Telfs. Along the former stroll path, you cycle along the Inn River and thus reach Stams with its baroque Cistercian monastery. Continuing along the Inn cycle path, you cycle past Imst and the Zams monastery to Landeck.

Today's royal stage takes you steadily uphill along the Inn cycle trail to Martina in Switzerland. From here, the route continues over the Resia Pass to Italy (the Resia Pass can also be bridged by bus from Landeck for an additional charge). For the certainly demanding climb, you will be rewarded with a magnificent mountain panorama.

The completely preserved medieval city wall of Glurns is the first highlight. Via the Montani ruins through Schlanders, you cycle down to Merano. Castles and palaces lie along or high above the path. You can enjoy views of the impressive Ortler massif and the Stilfserjoch while cycling. Via Lana, Eppan and the Lake Caldaro, the bike path leads you to the charming wine village of Ora.

On the Adige cycle path, it is easy to cycle to the impressive Trento. The route continues, via the old Tyrolean border town of Rovereto, to Mori. From here the tour heads west towards Lake Garda. In Mori, you will taste the famous pistachio ice cream at the Gelateria Bologna. After a short ascent at the small Passo S. Giovanni (150 m), the descent to the lake follows to Torbole or Riva.

Now, however, it would be nice to hang on for a few more days…

Sporty tour + e-bike = more momentum and energy

You think adventure, calf workouts and e-bikes are mutually exclusive? Far from it, we say! Cycling with electric power can open up whole new worlds of cycling.

Concept

For cycling holiday connoisseurs who already appreciate the advantages of e-bikes and who would like to cover longer distances at a brisk pace, the combination of an e-bike & a sporty cycling tour offers a new adventure in the form of longer distances and more challenging terrain.

Even those who are not (yet) fit enough but are still craving a sporty PEDALO bike tour should go for it - and treat themselves to an e-bike for support. With a gentle push, it gets you right into the thick of it all!

Or are you travelling as a couple and your partner is always ahead of you? With an e-bike, you will be able to keep up easily.

Your travel documents usually include general travel information, a hotel list, a road book and/or detailed maps as well as a textual description of the route; you will also get luggage tags and possibly also vouchers and/or information material on the various sightseeing attractions. The exact contents of the information package depend on the booked trip and its included services.

The documents will be sent to you approx. two to three weeks before the start of your tour. Depending on the trip, you may receive them partly in digital form and partly by post – or you will receive the hotel list and general travel information in advance by e-mail, and the remaining documents along with the maps on site at your starting hotel.

Please note that the travel documents are issued exclusively for PEDALO guests and are therefore not available without a booking.

The transport of your luggage from hotel to hotel is included as part of the basic service package for all staged tours and round trips in the PEDALO programme. You simply leave your luggage out for our courier in the morning before you set off on your cycling stage. When you arrive at your next accommodation in the late afternoon or early evening, it will be there waiting for you.

Just in case, we recommend always packing a change of clothes in your saddle bag, especially for short stages which you may cover more quickly than the luggage driver.

Depending on how the logistics are organised on site, there may be restrictions on the maximum weight and/or number of pieces of luggage. You will receive more detailed information on this with the travel documents well before the start of your trip.

Travel insurance is not included in our prices. You can decide whether to get a quote elsewhere or simply book your travel insurance online at pedalo.com/en/service/travel-insurance. In any case, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance!

Please note that for last-minute bookings (less than 30 days before the start of the trip), insurance cover can only be taken out within 3 days of booking.
