The itinerary
at a glance
For your 5-day round trip in the Nittel area
Individual journey to the small wine village of Nittel. Your bikes will be delivered to the hotel the next morning.
You start your cycle tour down the Moselle to Oberbillig. There you take a ferry (not included) to Wasserbillig. From now on, the Sûre guides your cycle tour. The marvellous natural landscape along the German-Luxembourg border will inspire you. Echternach is the oldest town in Luxembourg. A medieval fortification wall, the basilica and a historic market square invite you to linger.
Following the course of the Prüm river, you will soon reach Irrel. Plan some time to visit the Irrel waterfalls. You then cycle along the Nims cycle path. Fabulous nature and cultural highlights characterise this route in the Eifel. In the Bitburger Erlebniswelt, you can sample local brews on a guided tour. You will spend most of the rest of the day in the tranquil Kyll Valley. Here, too, you will be enchanted by the panoramic views and breathtaking nature. You follow the Moselle for the last stretch and have reached your destination for the day in Schweich.
You follow the beautiful Moselle upstream. You will soon reach Trier. In Germany's oldest city, you can follow in the footsteps of Roman history. You should definitely plan enough time to visit the Porta Nigra and the amphitheatre. From Konz you cycle through the tranquil Saar Valley. Pretty wine villages line your route to the medieval town of Saarburg with its castle ruins perched high above the riverbed.
Today you cycle the first section again in the enchanting Saar valley. At Mettlach you reach the Saar bend. The landscape is certainly one of the highlights of your tour. The most popular view is 180 metres above the river and is well worth the climb. Plan some time for a visit to the Villeroy and Boch experience centre. You leave the Saar at Merzig. From here you follow the sculpture symposium "Steine an der Grenze". Thirty-four sculptures are lined up here along the German-French border and show you the way to Perl.
In Perl you can visit the Roman Villa Borg. The cycle route takes you to the border triangle of Germany, France and Luxembourg. The municipality of Schengen became widely known through the Schengen Agreement. The Moselle runs here as the German-Luxembourg border. Follow the banks of the river to Remich. Here you can relax with a glass of wine. Continuing along the Moselle, you quickly reach the starting point of your cycle tour in Nittel. In the evening you have enough time to reflect on the many impressions of this wonderful cycle tour.
After breakfast you start your journey home. We are happy to book an extension to your holiday on request.

Frequently asked
questions

Your travel documents usually include general travel information, a hotel list, a road book and/or detailed maps as well as a textual description of the route; you will also get luggage tags and possibly also vouchers and/or information material on the various sightseeing attractions. The exact contents of the information package depend on the booked trip and its included services.
The documents will be sent to you approx. two to three weeks before the start of your tour. Depending on the trip, you may receive them partly in digital form and partly by post – or you will receive the hotel list and general travel information in advance by e-mail, and the remaining documents along with the maps on site at your starting hotel.
Please note that the travel documents are issued exclusively for PEDALO guests and are therefore not available without a booking.
The transport of your luggage from hotel to hotel is included as part of the basic service package for all staged tours and round trips in the PEDALO programme. You simply leave your luggage out for our courier in the morning before you set off on your cycling stage. When you arrive at your next accommodation in the late afternoon or early evening, it will be there waiting for you.
Just in case, we recommend always packing a change of clothes in your saddle bag, especially for short stages which you may cover more quickly than the luggage driver.
Depending on how the logistics are organised on site, there may be restrictions on the maximum weight and/or number of pieces of luggage. You will receive more detailed information on this with the travel documents well before the start of your trip.
Travel insurance is not included in our prices. You can decide whether to get a quote elsewhere or simply book your travel insurance online at pedalo.com/en/service/travel-insurance. In any case, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance!
Please note that for last-minute bookings (less than 30 days before the start of the trip), insurance cover can only be taken out within 3 days of booking.
