From Desenzano, you’ll cycle through a varied landscape of vineyards and orchards toward Moniga and Manerba. Time and again, there are charming views of Lake Garda before reaching the picturesque port town of Salò. Take some time for a relaxing break and enjoy the lively promenade. Afterward, beautiful paths lead through the gentle hills of the region back to Desenzano.

From Desenzano, you´ll cycle over rolling hills, past cypress trees and vineyards, toward Verona. The city of
Romeo and Juliet captivates visitors with its magnificent Renaissance palaces, the impressive Roman Arena, and its many lively squares. In the afternoon, you’ll take the train back to Desenzano.

Cycle along quiet paths through vineyards, peach orchards, and kiwi plantations toward Solferino. This historic town is closely associated with the famous "Battle of Solferino," which is considered a Major step toward the unification of Italy. After a detour into the past, the route leads back to Lake Garda, taking you through the growing region of the crisp Lugana wines.

You’ll cycle through gently rolling hills to the banks of the Mincio. The river takes you to the historic fortress of
Peschiera and to the lake; later, you’ll cycle back into the countryside. Through apple orchards and the vineyards of Bardolino, you’ll return to the shore, which you’ll follow under shady pine trees all the way to the charming lakeside town of Garda. To round off the day in style, enjoy a leisurely boat ride across the lake back to Desenzano.

First, you’ll cycle along the shore of Lake Garda, accompanied by breathtaking views of the sparkling water. As you head toward Cavalgese di Riviera, a varied hilly landscape unfolds, featuring olive groves, cypress trees,
gentle moraine hills, and the Chiaretto and Groppello wine-growing regions. The bike path follows the Naviglio
Grande Bresciano canal and then winds gently back down to the lake.

Level

Occasional cyclists

You prefer flat terrain, but you won’t be put off by the occasional hill. There has to be the right mix of breaks, nature and culture. You enjoy exercise and bring some stamina and cycling experience to the table.

Topography

The daily cycling stages take you through flat to undulating terrain with a few slight inclines.

Road conditions

You will mostly ride on cycle paths and farm roads as well as low-traffic side roads.

Route-finding & navigation

You will navigate by yourself using maps and/or GPS data.

Fancy a break from cycling?

On a location-based tour, you can simply choose to skip a day's cycling if a stage seems too difficult for you.

Printed travel documents

Before you start your trip, you will receive digital documents from us. You will also get access to our app, which makes navigation easy. If you would prefer printed travel documents, these can be collected at the starting hotel for an additional charge of €20 per package. These must be requested in advance.

Arrival/departure

Arrival and departure are not included in the tour price for PEDALO cycle tours, but are always organised by the traveller.

Arrival by car: Detailed information on parking options will be provided with your travel documents.

If you are travelling by air, we recommend that you book your flight as early as possible - but only AFTER you have received your PEDALO booking confirmation.

How does a location-based tour work?

There are places in the world of cycle touring that are just so picturesque and diverse that once you have arrived, you can't tear yourself away. They have so much to offer that you will struggle to decide which direction to cycle in first. These special spots are where we at PEDALO have created our location-based tours just for you.

Keep riding, but always stay in the same place

In contrast to staged tours and round trips, you won't cycle from place to place, and thus from hotel to hotel. Instead, you will stay in one and the same accommodation for the duration of your cycling holiday. This hotel will be the starting point for fascinating cycling excursions in the surrounding area. Every day, there will be new routes for you to explore. Every evening, you will return to hosts who put their heart and soul into their work and offer you a pleasantly cosy atmosphere with a healthy dose of class. Instead of having to pack your bags each day, you simply get to ride your bike and enjoy your holiday.

For beginners, improvers - and anyone seeking a breath of fresh air

This type of cycling holiday is designed for anyone who likes to take it easy. If you’re feeling a bit too sore for cycling or the weather isn't looking good, you can simply take a day off. Location-based tours are also ideal for first-time cyclists who may not yet know exactly how much they can or want to tackle in a day. No unnecessary stress, just pure freedom - so your tour can be all about the joy of cycling!

What info material will I receive for my bike tour?

Your travel documents usually include general travel information, a hotel list, a road book and/or detailed maps as well as a textual description of the route; you will also get luggage tags and possibly also vouchers and/or information material on the various sightseeing attractions. The exact contents of the information package depend on the booked trip and its included services.

The documents will be sent to you approx. two to three weeks before the start of your tour. Depending on the trip, you may receive them partly in digital form and partly by post – or you will receive the hotel list and general travel information in advance by e-mail, and the remaining documents along with the maps on site at your starting hotel.

Please note that the travel documents are issued exclusively for PEDALO guests and are therefore not available without a booking.

Should I take out travel insurance?

Travel insurance is not included in our prices. You can decide whether to get a quote elsewhere or simply book your travel insurance online at pedalo.com/en/service/travel-insurance. In any case, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance!

Please note that for last-minute bookings (less than 30 days before the start of the trip), insurance cover can only be taken out within 3 days of booking.
