This exciting cycling holiday offers everything Northern Europe has to offer: explore the two capitals Copenhagen and Stockholm, as well as the automotive metropolis of Gothenburg, and follow the Kattegat route along Sweden's picturesque west coast. The water accompanies you most of the way and there is plenty to discover - royal Zealand, the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Drottningholm Palace, great nature reserves, culinary highlights, and, of course, the two metropolises of Copenhagen and Stockholm.

The itinerary
at a glance

For your 8-day tour from Copenhagen to Stockholm

Denmark's capital welcomes you with its cosmopolitan flair, exciting architecture and ´hyggelig´ lifestyle. Depending on your arrival time, you can take your first stroll or watch the hustle and bustle over a cup of coffee.

You leave Copenhagen and cycle through fragrant forests, past beautiful countryside and along the beaches of the Øresund towards the north. In Helsingør, don't miss Kronborg Castle. Then take the ferry (approx. 20 minutes, approx. 8 € per person, not included) to Helsingborg on the Swedish side.

After breakfast, take the train (approx. 90 minutes, approx. 25.50 € per person, not included) to Falkenberg, one of the oldest towns in Halland. From here, your cycle tour along the west coast begins, taking you through picturesque fishing villages and past small craft workshops. In Träslövsläge, take a break and enjoy some freshly caught lobster. In the late afternoon, you will reach Varberg with its imposing fortress.

Today, the sea accompanies you only on the first part of the route. Then you follow quiet paths along horse farms and fields inland. Finally, you reach Kungsbacka, once a trading center with a beautiful old town

You leave Kungsbacka and cycle north through lush forests, past bays and small harbours. Särö is a good place to stop for a short break. Today's stage ends in the bustling centre of Gothenburg. Enjoy the atmosphere at the harbour or visit the Maritiman museum.

After breakfast, you will travel to Stockholm by train with your own luggage. In the afternoon, there will be time for a stroll through the old town.

Along Lake Mälaren, Sweden's third largest lake, you cycle to the island of Lovön, where the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Drottningholm Palace awaits you. Take time to admire this beautiful building in its magnificent lakeside setting and visit the exotic little ‘China Palace’, the palace theatre and the wonderful palace gardens. Crossing bridges and cycling along the water, you continue on to Södermalm. The former working-class district is now home to hipsters and designers. On the way back to Stockholm, you will also pass the old town of Gamla Stan with its cobbled streets, crooked houses and inviting cafés.

Your cycling tour ends after breakfast. We would be happy to extend your holiday with additional nights in the Swedish capital.

Your travel documents usually include general travel information, a hotel list, a road book and/or detailed maps as well as a textual description of the route; you will also get luggage tags and possibly also vouchers and/or information material on the various sightseeing attractions. The exact contents of the information package depend on the booked trip and its included services.

The documents will be sent to you approx. two to three weeks before the start of your tour. Depending on the trip, you may receive them partly in digital form and partly by post – or you will receive the hotel list and general travel information in advance by e-mail, and the remaining documents along with the maps on site at your starting hotel.

Please note that the travel documents are issued exclusively for PEDALO guests and are therefore not available without a booking.

The transport of your luggage from hotel to hotel is included as part of the basic service package for all staged tours and round trips in the PEDALO programme. You simply leave your luggage out for our courier in the morning before you set off on your cycling stage. When you arrive at your next accommodation in the late afternoon or early evening, it will be there waiting for you.

Just in case, we recommend always packing a change of clothes in your saddle bag, especially for short stages which you may cover more quickly than the luggage driver.

Depending on how the logistics are organised on site, there may be restrictions on the maximum weight and/or number of pieces of luggage. You will receive more detailed information on this with the travel documents well before the start of your trip.

Travel insurance is not included in our prices. You can decide whether to get a quote elsewhere or simply book your travel insurance online at pedalo.com/en/service/travel-insurance. In any case, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance!

Please note that for last-minute bookings (less than 30 days before the start of the trip), insurance cover can only be taken out within 3 days of booking.
