This route is named after a breathtaking mountain range. But you don´t have to worry: You cycle through the valleys along the rivers "Salzach" and "Saalach". The trail is mostly flat. The bike path has a decline of 750 m from your starting point Krimml to the destination Passau. Everyday you will see a few scenic highlights of landscape and culture like our snow-covered mountains with a highness of 3,000 metres.

You will be impressed from this magical landscape. Your cultural expectations will absolutely be satisfied. Riparian forests, small villages and the river "Inn" characterize the second part to the three-river city Passau. The magnificent and breath-taking bike trip will make you forget the daily routine of your everyday life. Recovery effect is promised.

For your 6-day tour from Krimml to Passau

In Krimml you find the largest European waterfall. On a well-designed trail you can admire this natural spectacle. Your bikes will be available at the booked accommodation.

Today’s stage takes you through the Hohe Tauern National Park and the Upper Pinzgau region. Stunning views of snow-covered, three-thousand-metre peaks will accompany you the whole way. Your immediate surroundings will alternate between lush green meadows and cute little villages, which offer you a fairytale backdrop.

Take the opportunity for a refreshing dip in Lake Zell. Having cycled via the castle village of Maishofen and Maria Alm with its well-known pilgrimage church, you will soon arrive in Saalfelden where you will sleep tonight.

The bike path along the Saalach leads you to the Seisenberg gorge and the Lamprechtshöhle (Europe’s deepest cave) near Weißbach. The well-known chocolate manufacturer “Berger” is located in Lofer. Bad Reichenhall also is not short of sweet treats thanks to its enticing cake shop called “Konditorei Reber”.

You are sure to have burnt the extra calories by the time you arrive in Salzburg. The vast amount of culture there is bound to enchant you. Make sure to leave enough time for a wander around the historic city and to visit Mozart’s birthplace.

Today you will meet the Salzach river again. You will follow this out of town until you reach Oberndorf where you can find the “Silent Night Chapel”. The extensive alluvial forests lead you to Tittmoning. From there, you then follow the „Naturerlebnisweg Unterer Inn“ (Lower Inn nature discovery trail) to Burghausen where you will find the largest castle complex within Central Europe.

You will leisurely cycle along the Inn cycle path to the gothic town of Braunau or alternatively to Simbach in Bavaria.

In the morning you will see many bird colonies nesting close to the river banks. You continuously follow the German-Austrian border until you get to Obernberg where you will be staying tonight. Check out its well-known marketplace and its baroque architecture.

You continue along the Inn river, which the famous Reichersberg abbey lies next to. In Schärding make sure to take a break at the baroque market square before reaching Passau, today’s destination. In Passau a three rivers cruise would most certainly be a fitting end to your cycle tour.

In Passau there's a lot to discover. We would be appreciated to book an extension of your trip.

Sporty tour + e-bike = more momentum and energy

You think adventure, calf workouts and e-bikes are mutually exclusive? Far from it, we say! Cycling with electric power can open up whole new worlds of cycling.

Concept

For cycling holiday connoisseurs who already appreciate the advantages of e-bikes and who would like to cover longer distances at a brisk pace, the combination of an e-bike & a sporty cycling tour offers a new adventure in the form of longer distances and more challenging terrain.

Even those who are not (yet) fit enough but are still craving a sporty PEDALO bike tour should go for it - and treat themselves to an e-bike for support. With a gentle push, it gets you right into the thick of it all!

Or are you travelling as a couple and your partner is always ahead of you? With an e-bike, you will be able to keep up easily.

Your travel documents usually include general travel information, a hotel list, a road book and/or detailed maps as well as a textual description of the route; you will also get luggage tags and possibly also vouchers and/or information material on the various sightseeing attractions. The exact contents of the information package depend on the booked trip and its included services.

The documents will be sent to you approx. two to three weeks before the start of your tour. Depending on the trip, you may receive them partly in digital form and partly by post – or you will receive the hotel list and general travel information in advance by e-mail, and the remaining documents along with the maps on site at your starting hotel.

Please note that the travel documents are issued exclusively for PEDALO guests and are therefore not available without a booking.

The transport of your luggage from hotel to hotel is included as part of the basic service package for all staged tours and round trips in the PEDALO programme. You simply leave your luggage out for our courier in the morning before you set off on your cycling stage. When you arrive at your next accommodation in the late afternoon or early evening, it will be there waiting for you.

Just in case, we recommend always packing a change of clothes in your saddle bag, especially for short stages which you may cover more quickly than the luggage driver.

Depending on how the logistics are organised on site, there may be restrictions on the maximum weight and/or number of pieces of luggage. You will receive more detailed information on this with the travel documents well before the start of your trip.

Travel insurance is not included in our prices. You can decide whether to get a quote elsewhere or simply book your travel insurance online at pedalo.com/en/service/travel-insurance. In any case, we recommend that you take out travel cancellation insurance!

Please note that for last-minute bookings (less than 30 days before the start of the trip), insurance cover can only be taken out within 3 days of booking.
